The way I kind of look at them is like that, with the Accretia hellbent on world order, "1 == 1", "10101011", etc etc.... so Machine. Then the Cora are a bunch of crazy hippies god dammit! Which MUST be Zion! lol. Which leaves the Bellato in the middle, trying to keep the peace (At least keep it for now!), but ultimately fighting to survive, so almost a reverse role of the Merovingian, what with him trying to cause trouble!

Bellato are experienced traders and their financial minds and greed have driven the need to extend out to other planets

So maybe not THAT different from the Merovingian anyway! :wink:

So umm, I'm not too sure. I would either like to be Accretia or Bellato I think. But I would be interested to see some higher level Cora, what with all there magic! But I think I would like to play as the Accretia to be plain evil, or play as the Bellato Mech's, they are HUGE

Btw, another kind of bad point, is the game seriously lacks content until lvl 30 apprently. But stick with it, and it explodes with fun stuff!

Okies, well thats not too encouraging!!

I'm jsut worried really, because Play.com is the only UK place selling the game that I've seen that offers the beta code, but theyve never really done anything like this before, So I'm worried that they arent even going to bother and mess it up :(

EBGames I think it was sold it with the beta code, and even though its a bit more costly, if I dont get a mail soon, I'm thinking about cancelling and moving my order over there, I dont want to miss my beta days!

As far as I have learned from scouring the official Codemaster forums, they have hardly started beta at all. Phase 3 (when the pre-orders get in) seems to be a long way off.
However, it seems that everyone who pre-orders, will get his beta key, so it doesn't seem to matter where you pre-order at all.

Unfortunately, it looks as if the beta and subsequent release will be a lot later than the 'officially stated' release date of februari. :evil:
At least, this is the info I gathered from the UK, Dutch and French Codemaster/Euro-RFonline forums and various sources.

Looks like we'll have to wait quite a while longer still...

The full story is in that link. Short version : Keys will be send 16-20 january (i.e. next week) and the beta client should be downloadable at the end of the week. (not sure if we'll be able to play beta yet then, but thats the info supplied)

Live release is rumoured to be around 20th of februari, tho it's not completely official yet. But chances are good it will be late februari.

I tried playing GunZ, because it looked like fun, but cause I'm behind a router, I cant try it, even if I forward ports etc etc. Stupid game :( Although the Korean version (I think that one) supports routers, so why the hell the International one doesnt, I have no idea!

Well the cake aside (because its unfair to compare anything to cake! :wink:), I'm enjoying so far, yeah. It's got a nice anime style to it, and it seems to run very well. I've probably got the worst computer around, and it runs perfect on Max opts. Looks great.

The gameplay so far seems a bit boring, but mind you, lvl 10 isnt exactly very far into the game. I read that you can get to lvl 30 (where the game apprently kicks off) pretty quickly on your own, so I'll not say much until I get there. I'm looking forward to the PvP aspect of the game, just looks like a bit of chaotic mayhem from what I've seen, which in an anime style is always fun!

I suppose at the moment, its just the visual that have got me hooked, the gameplay and layout is VERY reminiscent of Lineage II, so if you've played that, you might be a bit put off if you didnt like it. I'd definately recommend it though, as its a nice break from MxO and other games tbh.

I'll stop ranting here anyways until I hit 30 and get my first class abilities, as I already knew I was going to have to get there first! :P

Only one server atm, called "Spirit". But I think all the servers are hostile, or maybe its just certain areas. I'm really not too sure atm, because there seems to be two "good" races, and one evil, and whenever I've seen fights, it reflects that.

Also there where some Cora people messing around in the Bellato starting zones before, so wheteher its just a peaceful area, or Cora and Bellato are allied, I'm not too sure!

But anyways, I get the impression its always hostile, its just there are certain safe-zones where only one race can go (e.g. Home towns). I'll let ya know when/if I figure it out :P



On a random note, I also got an Auto Assault beta code mailed to me today, hehe, yay! Another free game! :D

Although we all know you are the leveling god DS - how quickly are you leveling? *waits for answer and multiplies it by 10 to apply to me*

And I likey the fact that it is mainly hostile. I don't see the point in opt-in PvP - but I can see a valid reason for safe-zones to take a breather - like the MxO constructs where you are protected by lvl100's in your "safe" zone.

If I pre-ordered now - you reckon I would get a beta code before it actually goes live? - Or should I carry on lvling in MxO and wait for more feedback from you hardcore gamers... :)

Exp is not the most important part of the game, leveling your abilites are.

If you rush the leveling process you will end up with a gimped char and be rather weak, thus having to delete the char and reroll.

Overly true and can be pretty frustrating I've heard! So far though, I've jsut been doing some random quests to kill this or that, and my abilities seem to be leveling up nicely :)

Only took about 2-3 hours or so to get to lvl 10ish I think. I havent had much of a chance to play it again all day though!

Anyways, if anyone else is in there, I'm a Bellato Ranger called "Dragon". Only reset when I was playing for an hour or two this morning after trying out Cora. I am lvl 8 and a bit atm. I'm usually near the Bellato HQ!

I totally agree. I started with Bellato, switched to Cora (very briefly - not really liking 'em) and than proceeded with Accretia (my 2nd favourite). Finally, I started over once again with Bellato and think i'm gonna stick it out with them.

Leveling goes very fast and easy, but like Moze said : you have to 'level' individual skills as well (like defence for example - which you train by getting beat upon. lol). So a slower lvler, who takes care of all his skills might very well be much more powerfull than someone who powerlvls and forgets about his individual skills/stats.

PvP is always on between all 3 races. the only 'safe' zones are inside those races 'bases/starting grounds' which for the most part can only be entered by said race (wether because there are only race-specific transports or huge turrets which insta-kill pretty much anything.)

The short period i've played so far i've been haing fun, tho atm the social aspect is pretty hard to gauge due to beta-craziness. I'll be turning on fraps tonight and try to get you guys some footage in a day or so.

PS: It is indeed very refreshing to walk around with 20-50 people on screen with graphix maxed out and absolutely no inkling of lag or slowdown, even if half those ppl are tossing about pretty lights with buffs and assaultguns blazing everywhere :wink:

There's not much choice. 5 different faces (that aren't very different), 5 different hair styles (of which you can't change the colour), clothing that all looks similar the only difference being how much flesh is exposed / whether you want knee high socks or stocking style (crazy asians). I guess the overall look becomes more variable when you start adding armor / weapons / shields etc.

At least you know your enemies will look different to you Ren - each race looks completely different in both size and shape. And the customisation seems to be with the armour you purchase as you go along. The clothes you choose at the beginning are not really a long term look.

I think I may have a dip in this ocean and see if I like it. Although I liked CoV when I first tried it - but then I realised I much prefered MxO cos of the setting/environment.

I do like the fact that slow diligent levelers will end up with the best builds - cos if there is ever a king of the slow levelers - I will be raising my head looking for the crown!!!!

Yes, the way you look is the same at the start, but when getting to the higher levels the armour distinguishes your look (depending on your class as there are armour sets all the way up to level 50).

Exactly the same for all 3 races. And the only main difference in looks happens when you start to get your different class armour, and different weapons. First different class armour is lvl 13, which tbh doesnt take long to get to at all. So by lvl 13, you can expect to be able to start seeing different ppl!

Just to make this absolutely clear : this game is purely, completely, utterly based around PvP. To be bluntly honest, most of the quests, PvE, and story is only a means to and end, i.e. leveling in order to PvP.

PvP comes in many forms, but most importantly : Chip Wars. The central point of the map contains Mines. Ppl can go there to mine Talics (needed to upgrade weapons/armour or to craft) or to simply earn money (which is very much needed since you even have to buy ammo).
Chip wars are basically a race vs race vs race PvP thing. Numbers do count, but skill equally so. The smaller numbers will win if they work better as a unit and strategically. 1vs1 PvP is almost non existant, due to the nature of self-healing (most ppl can outheal any damage they take in 1vs1, unless there is a huge lvl diff.)
If for some reason one faction/race outnumbers the others greatly, the race leacers can always opt to form an alliance to overthrow the larger race. Should this still provide difficulty, it has happened before that the devs have granted special 'advantages' to the minority races.
On a side note, the 5 race leaders are the only ones who can chat with the other race leaders and who can adress their own race globally. These 5 laders are the actual top-ranking players of their race, so pretty much anyone can become leader if they portray enough skill.

And to give ppl an idea of the possible scope of such a Chip War, I'll add a small pic of the Accrecians massing together for war on the Korean servers :wink:

I just right-click the hotbar. My attacks all seem to work fine, and my buffs too. I usually have problems if I'm in combat with one of my buffs though. No idea why, just that one. Potions are all on my hotbar too and work fine!

Nope, theres now 5 servers. Although only two are up atm (second came up this morning). Spirit and now Earth.

We are all on Spirit, and Adunai and myself are Bellato, and Veube and Moze are Cora!

I don't think any race is particularly better than the other - They all have crafters, warriors and rangers, all pretty equal in power and abilities. Then each race has its own specialist unit, Cora - Summons, Accreita - Siege Cannons, Bellato - MAU's. So if you are going to pick a race, pick the one you find most fun to play or like the look of the most. Cause once everyone has had a go of the game, I think we should all move to one race anyways so we can group and make a faction etc. Maybe with the next char wipe moving onto Phase 3?

From what I've read only the leaders of each race can whisper to the other leaders of a different race - talk about discrimination!!!!!!

Cora seem to be the goodies who are best with the magic (and have pointy ears). Bellato seem to be the mercanaries who can use magic and bigger ass mechs.....

I am leaning towards Bellato with a hint of Accretia. I really don't want to be a spellcaster or have pointy ears or be the goodie so Cora does not fit me well.

Those MUA things look cool for bellato but seem mighty expensive. From what I've read Hidden Soldier seems a good route to go down - the Bellato fast attack ranged fighter.

Also from what I've read - any of the cloak abilities seem to be worthless cos high level players have very good detect abilities (especially Cora).

I'm gonna try both accretia and bellato when I get my key - As long as I can shoot bullets into them pink fluffy things - I'll be happy :)

I kept getting lines of gibberish in my chat log yesterday. Figured someone was trying to send me tells. Like Drag said, only the 5 race leaders can understand the other races, which means they can always understand what ur saying, but you won't understand them, unless your a race leader urself.

I read through the 'Lore' behind the game and it confuses me. In short, the 3 races have come about through human scientists doing experiments to make the human race a stronger race in order to fight the inevitable invasion of the Herodians.

Many experiments were done but with the Herodians causing mayhem only the 3 planets with a race each has survived.

Now, what I don't get is why the 3 races battle each other when there's an UBER UBER UBER nasty bad evil set of dudes coming to wipe out all signs of human (be it mutated) life.

Am I missing something ?

Well the Accretia are just evil aswell, and decided to take over everything. So other force or not, the li'l do-gooders Cora decided to step in and fight back. The Bellato only got involved because they came to the conclusion that they would probably get defeated by staying out of it, or at least be left a crippled race trapped in a zone ruled by another race.

I think thats it anyway. Either way, its cause the Accretian's are evil and decided to kill everyone.

Also I've heard that Philippine's version of RF nerfed the MAU giving it 50% more HP but a 50% decrease in defense (Dont know if that applies to all versions let alone the retail version). And on top of that they cost a lot of money to maintain after battles imo.

Well its only 1mil for the basic MAU. So I'm at least going to try it, In the vid I saw though, they were just plowing through people, taking almost no damage and doing 1-2k dmg per hit!

Concerning MAU's : Keep in mind that their power doesn't change. Yes, they are incredibly powerful around lvl 30, but since they don't gain any hp or damage output since you buy one, other classes will become more powerful then them lvl 35+.

Rumour has it that endgame they don't mean a thing, since almost every other class will outdamage them with noticably higher defence ratings as well.

Still want one too nonetheless :)

By the way, i'm primarily playing on Earth lately. Cora side. Toon's name is Vhayne (lvl 25 at time of writing this). Expect a new gameplay movie soon ^^

You can upgrade your MAU's. And when you reach the adv.Driver class, you get access to Black MAU's, which are supposedly unstoppable.

Still don't mind which race we end up as though tbh. I think I could happily play any class tbh!

That link shows one of the new features coming in the next "Giga Update". If I follow it right, it means you can combine things such as an intense sword, a sharp sword, the right gem, and end up with an intense sharp sword. And various other combination recipies. Looks good!

Hehe, I was there before mining when the Chip-war ended and he spawned. God you can mine fast in there though! Was getting an ore every 10secs!

Just found out that at lvl 15 Ammo crafting, players can craft purple ammo. So any rangers out there, find a specialist, or make a specialist alt to craft that ammo!

I can't wait 'till live release, seriously I can't wait, it looks like exactly everything I've been waiting for. Of course, I'm never going to leave MxO, but a small break would be nice and RFO looks to be a clean breath of fresh air. I'm a big Final Fantasy-style game fan, you know, mixing vivid graphics, magic and technology into one huge character building game... So this looks to hit the spot, hopefully I won't be bored to death there within the first week like I was in CoV, what I mean is... Hopefully there's a community. :wink:

Plus it'll give me something new to do on this beaut of a PC!! Installing MxO right now, exiting stuff... Gonna test out that new card!!

Does anyone else have a very unstable experience. I tried playing it last night - crashed once on the player creation screen - and then a second time after about 20 minutes... So I went to play mxo and had no problems whatsoever there.

No problems here. I recently cured an irritating bug which meant that loading times were rediculously high but I narrowed it down to Zone Alarm being far too intrusive. Zone Alarm is now in my list of software to avoid.

Moze was having some 'weird lag' issues and also got d/ced once, but I'm running smooth.
