I was wondering what your thoughts are on this series?
I just recently finished the first season (the 2005 series, not the old ones) and must admit i liked it. Its cheap and cheesy and they could have gotten so much more out if it, but still it has got its charm. :)

I became increasingly annoyed at the Russell T Davies approach to the character and setting. He can write fine sex comedies but with Who it seemed his style was to use whatever shiny gimmick or image grabbed his attention without regard to how well if fitted into the whole.

And the less said about the abomination that was Torchwood the better.

The last couple of series have been a bit of an improvement. But a friend describes it as being like fan fiction and I think he has a point.

I really enjoyed it, although not so much with Moffat's direction. Next year is apparently going to be a big one... i think its the 50th year anniversary?

John Pertwee, Tom Baker, Christopher Ecclestone, David Tennant. You guys can stand up.

The rest of you, pale imitators.

Peter Davidson had a good go, but his seasons were utterly destroyed by the dreadful 80's CGI FX.

Hartnoll, Troughton, well, you guys set up a great premise, but it was so much more entertaining once they dropped the educational element.

I really like the most recent Doctor Who, Matt Smith. He starts off playing it a bit like a clumsy David Tennant but after a while settles into something more convincing. I think he pulls off the jump between silly and serious better than any of other recent Whos.

Also the plot feels less centric on disposable extras.

I finished the 2nd season and i still find it interesting.
I liked Christopher Ecclestone, he played the doctor quite well.
David Tennant is a bit meh. He plays the funny side of the doctor quite good, but hes not so convincing if hes playing a mad or serious character.

Would you say its worth to watch the old series? They sound kinda boring. >.<
