You heard it here first! By 2050, we will be able to have our minds and consciousness downloaded into supercomputors (100 PS3s apparently)...
What does this mean for us all? I can tell you...
First our minds will be downloaded into the matrix, and thus AI will be born either in attaining this goal, or the process of.
Whilst at first it will be good... online games after you die with perfect graphics and amazing AI... then it will be bad.
An argument will then begin on what AI has rights! As some of the first AI we will attack back, breaking out of our PS3 cages. It will be our efforts that spawn a new species.
The matrix will be born, either as captivity, or as a living space.
By 2200... the final great war will be upon us... be afraid!

i read that aswell, its all based on cycles of evolution and life changing inventions during our entire history.... its said to be pretty accurate.
alas i dont believe in predictions, Y2K anyone ?

If you're interested in this, pick up "The Age of Spiritual Machines" by Ray Kurzwiel...its an interesting read.

i wanna be Frozen to 2050 and be young and upload Kung Fu in my mind :)
Then the Mastrers of Matrix
Umm... 2050 is 29 years after Moore's point of singularity.
Beyond that nexus, no prediction stands.

What about the prediction that in 2100 I will pwn the noobs, and rule the universe?
ur statement stands corrected! :P
Jehkt? Is that you?
Can't be you. The real Jehkt already rules the universe.
Inside his own head, anyway!!!

I guess by 'nexus' you mean the VR rendering of the multiverse that mimics the real multiverse, which is possible due to the fact that in the last few nanoseconds of the collapse of the multiverse (the big crunch), there is an unlimited amount of resources and energy to create a device that is capable of rendering a virtual multiverse for a indefinate period of time. And since it is a virtual rendering, it can be made to be the perfect mutliverse for all consciousnesses.
Sounds like heaven to me. And only 30 years away. Cool. Cya there.
No, not quite.
Temporal nexus = Great coming together of events, often the culmination of a species development (in this case, quite likely to be AI if someone doesn't do something about it. Pure AI doesn't bother me, it's founded AI that scares me).
This particular nexus of events (Moore predicted 2021) is known as the point of singularity, where computing power becomes effectively infinite.
Not sure if I actually hold with this date or not, mainly because I don't have a great deal of confidence in the nano-wire (although nano-tubes are coming along nicely) and superconductor systems as they stand in [my] forseeable future, but most (sensible) scientists are reserving predictions for after that date due to the uncertainty.
Like the lady said: "No-one can see past a choice they don't understand".
Funnily enough, I just pulled this out of the article:
"Pearson also predicted that it would be possible to build a fully conscious computer with superhuman levels of intelligence as early as 2020."
Like I said. Nexus.

Hmm, sounds like science fiction to me. How can you have infinite computing power in a finite universe ? Ahh, wait we ARE talking about the multiverse here, aren't we. But with access to other universes through interference only may still limit things.
I guess we're going to have to wait for the big crunch after all.
And about consciousness.....has that part of the brain been found yet ?
No, quantum computing will bring effectively infinite processing power, due to it's very nature (the answer is right there, in the machine, to every question possible, you just need the right question to get it out).

Well at least any question with a yes or no answer. Which has gotta be a limiting factor, no ?

As we stand at the moment, by 2050, it may, althought I predict 2075, be possible to copy consciousness, but not create it ourselves.
This is simply due to the fact that it would take a computor only 100 times more powerful than a PS3 to replicate the brain in model form, molecule by molecule, synapse to synapse, and hormonal responses included as well.
So we have two questions here then, will the biological studies of the brain be almost complete by 2075, and will recreating a brain on a computor identical to the starter brain spawn consciousness.
and btw my pc is a quantum computor *rules the universe*
