Okay guys, this is the first draft of my video for my final year project at Uni. It's basically a shader demo showing off lots of water effects in a rainy, urban scene, and I'm planning on using this video to apply to companies with over the next couple of weeks. I'm planning on uploading the demo itself too, it's just not ready for that yet, but I'll post a link once it is.

I'd really appreicate it if you could take the time to download a copy (sorry about the 80mb file size, but any lower quality and you just lose all the effects unfortunately) and give me any feedback you have. The first half is a pan through my scene with a bit of music, then the second half is a quick walkthrough of some of the techniques I'm using. So you may or may not be interested in the latter half. I'm aware there are a few typos and there's a mouse on the screen at some points, but at 40 minutes each time I want to save out a copy of the movie, I'm not going to correct it just this minute!! ;)

Video Links:

Rapidshare: http://rapidshare.com/files/212594447/High.wmv
MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PWNHS2RL

Sorry if rapidshare or megaupload don't work for all of you, just give me a shout if I can up it somewhere better, and of course if anyone can re-host it for the rest of Causality to watch, I'd appreciate it! I'll add it to my own webspace once I've fixed the video a bit and taken into account everyone's feedback, but I don't have much bandwidth available and I'm planning on applying to alot of places!

Thanks for any feedback anyone gives, and I hope you enjoy the last 10 months of my work!

haha...no...I'm trying to think of something constructive & critical or helpful to say but can't...seems pretty good to me...

I'm so used to games over doing the rain effect and almost blinding you with it I nearly said it wasn't heavy enough....but not really a criticism...not sure about the moon seemed a bit uncomplicated like a light bulb maybe *shrugs* I mean it seems to be a big focal point in the movie but lacks anything overly interesting or eyecatching about it but then it fits with the almost "cartoonyness" a bit like TF2 and over complicating it might detract from the rest of it...thats about it...bloom on it seems fine btw since well I've never looked at the moon and been blinded by it

there are clouds in the sky which seem to be behind the moon aswell

but tbh mate it's pretty f*ckin awesome I'm just being a critique for the sake of it

Well thats fine, 'cause atm that's pretty much exactly what I'm after atm. I showed it to a few of my class mates and tutors today and got some more good feedback too, but generally got told it wouldn't really matter if I didn't bother fixing the few bugs with it.

I got told alot of stuff tbh, but all smallish things. So maybe I'll fix them... we'll see! I've got an assignment to do for this weekend that I've barely started and I wanted to start applying by this weekend too. I guess I can always change it after I send out the link.

Cheers for the feedback anyways!

wow amazing work mate... really.
Puddles are beautiful, as are the windows and drain. Really impressed. I remember when you did that water raising shader and I'd love to see in the future you combine the two to create realtime raising puddles as it rains :p

Gd stuff mang!
