Moving into a new house in September and I'm looking for a heavy duty connection that isn't going to screw us over. Whilst the housing agency suggested we apply for Virgin, I'm looking into other options as they also mentioned that the current tenants were in trouble for downloading things they shouldn't (audio books from torrents).
Any suggestions for a good Brisol ISP?

They have a wide range of packages with no long contract tie-ins. Unlimited downloading if you have the cash. I've had no problems with disconnects or outages and changes I've requested have been dealt with without delay or fuss.
The account comes with a control panel which shows current status, usage, options and here you can switch plans, change interleaving (which is normally on but should be off for gaming), view your MAX connection reports and even request a MAC ! (Not that you'll need one).
You can request multiple IP addresses with the account so if you have a house sharing the connection each PC can be assigned a real internet IP rather than using NAT. Pros and cons to that, if you want to be running webservers and such from your place you'll need these but it does remove a layer of security, however you decide whether to use them or not.
The peak/off peak usage just means you have to tailor downloads to happen overnight but peak limits are still generous.
UKFSN are a reseller for Entanet which is the real ISP here. Entanet don't deal direct with the public but you can still access their service site: http://noc.enta.net
So they get a thumbs up from me.
Only small cloud in an otherwise clear sky is an email I received asking me to delete an episode of Stargate that I'd torrented. However, I think the ISP was obliged to pass on the message from some copyright enforcement organisation. My recommendation if you're using torrents or any P2P method of download is to use Peerguardian or some other IP blocking software. (Or just use Usenet :p )
Speed test: (bear in mind I'm in the middle of nowhere about 3 miles from the exchange)
