Speed Racer?

Went to see Speed Racer by the Wachowski's this weekend. If I'm honest, it was the Wachowski connection that enticed me. From the reviews and trailers I though it might be horrendous.

However, I took the kids (11 and 8) and my other half (who's a proper girl - likes dirty dancing, grease and Mary Poppins). The kids sat enthralled through over 2 hours, and we both thought it was fantastic. No plot to speak of really, characters very shallow, but the big screen colour onslaught was a joy to the senses.

Yes I liked it.

I've heard it's visually great and everything feels just like a cartoon, even though it's not.
I need to see this some time.

I liked it too. When I was a kid, Speed Racer was my favorite cartoon growing up (marine boy was second). It wasn't a great movie, like Ironman, but it was a lot of fun, and the Wachowskis were able to bring to a live movie the things that made the original tv show a lot of fun to watch when I was little.

Since the third Matrix film I've pretty much stayed away from any and all Wachowski films.... I'l take the reccommendation though and might rent it on dvd when it's out!
