Before I start, I'd just like to say I love you all am I'm sure you feel the same way about me :D :D :D

You'd never do anything to harm me or want me dead where I stand, would you. Nooo. Never. eeek

So on with the post. I thought it would be nice to show you all what turned up over the weekend. Yes its was bits for a new PC. I 'needed' it to increase productivity, get more work done in a shorter time, turn stuff out quicker = make more money. (And if you believe that, you're a as gulable as the person I had to convince lol)

Hmmm. Is that an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe MB ? Is that an Nvidia 7800GTX plugged in there ? Oh wait....am I seeing double ? Nope, there's 2 Nvidia 7800GTXs !

Ah, those are definately 4 sticks of Corsair PC4400 RAM and I do believe they are 512MB each. And 3x 250GB SATA drives ? Surely not. And powered by a 560W Thermaltake PSU ? All housed in a gorgeous Thermaltake Shark case ?

Theres something missing. Hmmm, that must be the processor that arrived early yesterday after I took the photo. You know, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ !

And this has joined the others here:

I was running it last night and its absolutely gorgeous. I'm able to turn everything on and up and run at 1600x1200 with a fps of between 20 and 30. It has breathed new life into the environment and the people. M0ZE was definately extra smooth. Adunai was more gorgeous than ever and I thought Tanyas complextion was flawless before, but now, WOW.

No lag at Mara C ?? Impossible !! Oh no its not.

Recon at the speed of light ? Oh yes, no hanging around on loading screens now.

Have I peed you off enough yet ? I suspect I'll be universally hated now. :(

PS. 1 downside. I now have the equivalent noise level of someone using a vacuum cleaner ringing in my ears. However, it does double as a hairdrier and good entertainment value as flies go near the jetstream coming out of the back. :D

PPS 2nd downside will arrive in the post at the end of the month :(

Hmmm, my game's been running on those settings great for the last few months, and I don't have half the system you have!

But still, have some hate, I've got loads to spare (thanks SOE) *hate*

Heheh How could we wish harm to you sweet Ve...... try as you might to tempt us

At least your comments last night now make sense...i was beginning to wonder if you had lost your mind lol (or have you and this is coincidental)!!

Very nice set up, although I run MxO quite happily at 1920x1200 resolution, the frame rate can drop partcularly in clubs etc, tend to prefer the gloss to the loss here though and the game is soooo much nicer with all the setting on max (window reflections in Dt are very satisfying etc).

And of course there is no better image to put it through its paces than my oh so perfect RSI ;)

Cyas later

Hmmm, more fps you say drag ?

Some experimentation may be required. Perhaps MXO is one of these that doesn't respond well to 2xGPUs. :(

We'll see.

PS. 1 downside. I now have the equivalent noise level of someone using a vacuum cleaner ringing in my ears.

i have a similar problem - but this is what head-sets are designed for :D

Yup, methinks its just MxO being a bitch per the norm V =P Still very jealous all the same!!

How much does one of those bad boys set you back btw? And did you get seperate parts, or was it per-made?

OK, so I'm a dummy. Having the game windowed on the desktop fecks up the fps. But you already knew that, I'm just dumb.

So full screen I'm getting between 40-90 fps ! Yeay !

However, as suspected, if I only use 1 of the 7800s then I gain another 10fps on top of that. So

Stupid coders.

*runs off to find those Half Life 2 CDs*

And yes drag, it was put together from parts. I tried not to look at the prices. The X2 4800 was £545 and the 7800s were £315 each, PSU £60, ASUS A8N was £86. Each stick of memory (Corsair XMS4400 CL2.5) was £116, drives were £80 each and the case £75. Sounds reasonable until you realise that those prices all EXCLUDE VAT ! I'm not gonna add it all together cause I'll faint.

Perhaps MXO is the game that responds worst to everything? ;-)

So yeah, you are probably right
