Dunno if anyone cares, but Codemasters have started the beta for Archlord (http://www.archlordgame.com/?territory=EnglishUK). Seems like the usual fantasy fare, but I know some members who shall remain nameless are beta whores and may sign up anyway ;)

I probably would have signed up, but I went on their screenshots, and the VERY first one put me right off.
Just from the looks of that, two characters incredibly similarly looking, and wearing the same clothes, just a small variation or two.
It looks like its another Lineage II copy, much like RfO. And tbh, those games are pretty dull, not to mention that having almost no customisation over your chracter, for me anyway, pretty much ruins a game. Especially when you're making something now, nearly every game that comes out, on or offline gives you a nice char customisation. I mean kudos to the devs of the game for making YET ANOTHER game where elves run around in short skirts, but especially when you're online, I HATE running around in a room full of myself wearing different outfits, really spoils the atmosphere, and ultimately ruins the game for me.
So I'm out :P

Archlord beta is now free for all to try on Fileplanet.com
Just register for a free acount if you don't already have one (or use your gamespy, ign account etc etc) as usual.
Then click on Archlord on the front page to get a beta key!
EDIT:
I still think it looks like another Lin Clone, but I was looking at one of the screenshots, showing a cutesy gal, with kitty ears, and wearing clothes which according to the description "Show as much flesh as possible, because they get pleasure from all the attention", not to mention a very carefully placed (love) heart, hehe.
So how could I not try it?! hehe. Just kidding =P Any beta that I can get my hands on I will!
Oh, and here:
Costumes Clothing and appearance are vitally important to Moon Elf culture. They take great pride in all that they wear and their clothes are designed to attract attention from others, which Moon Elves acquire, immense pleasure from. Their elaborate designs include lots of colour and also reveal lots of flesh, which is very popular within Moon Elf culture. So much importance is placed on Moon Elf clothing that Moon Elves found to be wearing clothes above their station face severe punishment and ultimately death.

Well, that was a waste of an hour.
The client was only 1.25gb, which is small for a client, so that's cool, but I had to wait 30mins in line a fileplanet. I blame them for that rather than the ArchLord peeps though.
Anyway, I get in the game, and straight away recognised the style of the game loader, and the char creation/login interfaces. This did I'll admitt make me want to quit right there, but I thought to myself "now now, let's give it a go".
I spent a total of 3 and a half mins in game. Then I left, and I don't think I'll ever re-download it again tbh. It was 100% just another fantasy mmo trying to cash in on the LII/WoW successes.
The interface and gameplay were LII down to the letter, with the small clunky inventory systems. The players around me where many to say the least. I must have seen a good 100 different people in the area i was in during those few minutes. But what was confirmed for me? That right, my fear of the god awful LII clothing system. EVERYONE LOOKS THE GOD DAMNED SAME!
I HATE THAT! RAWR!! Nothing worse for me in an MMO than logging in, and finding everyone looks identical. Yeah, it was the starting area so everyone was wearing low-lvl clothes, but you could tell from my inventory, looking at others, and what was in the shops that the armour/looks system is another LII rip. That means every 10 lvls you change your outfit and weapon, and everyone in your band looks identical to you. Really drives me crazy, and instantly ruins any game for me.
The other things I won't go in to, as that should be enough to put anyone else off and save them the time i wasted.
Short story:
DON'T WASTE YOUR GOD DAMNED TIME
Well, I wasn't going to anyway, but thanks DS, saved me the bother of even thinking about it.
More beta reviews from DS please!
Succinct. We like.
